Unveil The Suppression

I wish I could just be happy,

Like truly happy.

I wish I could be free,

Free of this suppression.

To be suffocating alive,

Is the greatest depression,

Yet some still wish to see us fall.

My skin holds pain,

The pain of my ancestors.

My skin holds beauty,

The beauty of my spirit.

But you can’t see neither,

Until we unveil the suppression.

Even when I am free,

I still wear their veil,

As a reminder that I am powerful enough,

To overcome.
